Designer / Software Developer
Kitchener, Ontario, Canada
Summary
👤
SeniorJames Carmichael is a senior UI/UX designer with 11 years of experience crafting polished, user-focused interfaces across web and native macOS platforms. Currently owning product design for a React-based surgical VIEW app at Intellijoint Surgical, he blends hands-on front-end development (React/JS/HTML/CSS) with research-driven feature ideation and cross-functional collaboration. He has led design system migrations to Figma, maintained shared component libraries, and translated complex, industry-specific requirements into usable experiences. A former freelancer who built 100+ custom websites, James pairs visual precision with practical engineering empathy to reduce friction between design and development. Based in Kitchener, he brings a methodical, organized approach and an unexpected extra: a background in piano and outdoor pursuits that informs a steady, user-centered creative perspective.
