Top SchoolJames Cauwelier is a staff software engineer and hands-on leader with 14 years of experience building resilient, event-driven systems and scaling teams from founding stages to enterprise volumes. He repeatedly takes zero-to-one responsibilities—designing distributed simulation engines, Monte Carlo MCMC backends in Rust, and high-throughput event-sourced pipelines that processed tens of millions of daily transactions. Equally comfortable in code and in coaching, he blends technical stewardship with cognitive-development practices—applying dialectic frameworks to improve team thinking and decision-making. His recent R&D focuses on embedding dialectic reasoning into conversational agents and architecting AI tools that elevate reflective cognition rather than merely automate tasks. Based in Seattle, he combines product-facing strategy with deep implementation skills across Python, Rust, Typescript, AWS and infrastructure-as-code.
