Senior🎓
Top SchoolJames Cronen is a seasoned software development director with over a decade of experience designing and leading data-driven applications, simulation engines, and UX-focused desktop software for the energy sector. At GE he has progressed from hands-on architect and C#/WPF developer to director-level roles overseeing PSLF, MAPS, and MARS platforms, combining product strategy with performance tuning and interoperability work. He excels at modernizing legacy systems—authoring ORM middleware, redesigning long-lived Java apps into C#/WPF, and enabling REST, cloud, and ML-forward roadmaps for power-system simulation. A pragmatic manager, he hires and mentors engineers, runs recruiting and performance processes, and balances developer autonomy with clear structure. His background in physics and early experience building test and automation tools give him an uncommon blend of analytical rigor and practical engineering. Based in Troy, NY, he focuses on sustainable, high-performance software that keeps decades-old mission-critical tools relevant for modern workflows.
