Top SchoolJames D is a Principal Cloud Solutions Architect with 13 years of hands-on experience designing secure, scalable cloud platforms and 11 years focused on cloud architecture leadership. Currently at materra.ai, he leads multi-organization AWS GovCloud and identity unification efforts, coordinating public-private partnerships across the WMO and national meteorological services to digitize tens of millions of climate records. His background spans enterprise security and cloud engineering at WEX, Dell, and startups, where he repeatedly translated compliance requirements into operational controls and remediated thousands of critical findings. James combines DevSecOps rigor with cost-conscious engineering—once cutting AWS spend by 36% through targeted optimizations—and brings a global, operational perspective shaped by work across Europe, Africa, and prior military deployments. Colleagues rely on him as a pragmatic SME who bridges C-suite strategy, engineering delivery, and interdisciplinary stakeholder needs.
