Top SchoolJames Dabbs is a Software Architect with 14 years of experience building scalable, maintainable systems and leading technical strategy at Procore Technologies. He blends deep hands-on engineering—spanning microservices, cloud infrastructure, and large-scale Elasticsearch operations—with a strong emphasis on developer enablement, having created templates, automation, and practices that reduce cognitive load and saved >$1M/yr in cloud costs. A former lead instructor and co-founder, he’s as comfortable mentoring teams and presenting on refactoring as he is designing resilient architectures and retiring legacy debt. Based in Santa Barbara with an academic background in mathematics, he prefers pragmatic, easy-to-use solutions for hard problems and measures impact by how much he can multiply other engineers’ effectiveness.
