Staff Software Engineer at Grafana Labs
England, United Kingdom
Summary
🎓
Top SchoolJames Dumbell is a polyglot senior software engineer with seven years’ experience building full-stack web and data platforms across consultancy and product teams, now at Grafana Labs. He combines strong engineering leadership—embedding best practices and ways of working—with hands-on delivery in TypeScript, Scala, Go and Python, and cloud-native infra on AWS and GCP using Terraform/CDK and serverless patterns. His background spans everything from React/NestJS frontends to Spark/Pandas data pipelines and Snowflake-backed analytics (SnowPro Core certified), reflecting a rare blend of data engineering and devops fluency. Previously he led growth analytics and scalable ETL at Wonderbly and supported enterprise clients at Infinity Works, so he’s comfortable translating business metrics into production-grade systems. Notably, his MMath from Manchester underpins a rigorous, quantitative approach to architecture and problem solving.
