Top SchoolJames Fitton is a Staff Data Scientist based in Irvine, CA with two decades of analytics experience and a decade of hands-on data science delivery in retail fraud and inventory systems. He architects scalable analytics stacks—most recently modernizing DBT on Snowflake with CI tests, incremental models, and agentic LLM tooling to automate pipeline maintenance and data-quality QA. He has a proven track record translating complex business problems into model-ready features, shipping detection frameworks that reduced reporting runtimes from weeks to minutes, and directly influencing renewals and new business worth multimillions. James blends statistical rigor (logistic and Bayesian models, quasi-experiments) with practical engineering (SQL program optimization, partitioned loads, automated reporting) and mentors teams to operationalize solutions. A background in geographical sciences and early SAP/database roles give him an uncommon systems-and-context sensitivity when modeling transaction and inventory data. He’s comfortable building human-in-the-loop LLM agents that draft fixes, open diagnostic tickets, and recommend backfills—demonstrating a pragmatic approach to safely scaling AI in production.
