Top SchoolJames Guzman is a Senior Software Engineer with 11 years of experience building autonomous systems and AI infrastructure across medical robotics, unmanned aircraft systems, and self-driving vehicles. He blends full-stack C++/Python engineering with deep learning research—having developed high-performing 3D UNet variants for stroke MRI segmentation and end-to-end data pipelines using Apache NiFi for clinical datasets. At startups and enterprises he has shipped middleware (DDS/Kafka), robotics control stacks, and medical imaging platforms that integrate real-time messaging, PySide UIs, and efficient C++/Python pipelines. James uniquely pairs hands-on embedded and middleware experience with ML model development and deployment, and his master’s thesis work advanced stroke lesion detection while navigating IRB and large-scale dataset management. Based in San Francisco, he’s driven by applying autonomy and AI to improve minimally invasive medical care and has a proven track record of turning research prototypes into production-ready systems.
