James Riley
Senior Software Engineer And Co-Founder at Sauce Social Commerce
London, England, United Kingdom
Summary
👤
SeniorJames Riley is a seasoned full-stack software engineer and co-founder with 14 years of experience building scalable web platforms across e-commerce and social commerce. Based in London, he architects and ships end-to-end systems—servers, databases, machine learning components and responsive UIs—primarily using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, MongoDB, MySQL and AWS. As a hands-on technical lead at Sauce Social Commerce he drives everything from infrastructure to heavy data-handling interfaces, applying image recognition and ML where it adds value. His earlier work includes real-time features and complex integrations (payments, geolocation, live event publishing) that powered high-traffic consumer products. Comfortable in small, craft-focused teams, he pairs product-minded engineering with a founder’s ownership of technical strategy. He’s also an active connector in the developer community, keen to swap war stories and practical lessons from building production systems.
