Top SchoolJames Thomas is a Senior Data Scientist with six years of focused experience leading teams and data-intensive projects at the Jean Golding Institute, University of Bristol. He specialises in urban analytics—working on e-scooter and e-bike micromobility, air quality, and climate vulnerability of people and infrastructure—bridging academic research, government, industry and third-sector partners. Previously he led data science and consultancy teams at Kiwa UK, designing field data acquisition systems, safety and energy modelling, and QA pipelines for hydrogen and heat-pump trials. James combines hands-on engineering (Python data stacks, Jupyter, bespoke web data capture) with stakeholder-facing reporting and training, and has a track record of turning complex physical-system data into auditable models and policy-relevant insights. Based in Bristol, he also co-organises community data-visualisation and outreach programmes, reflecting a strong commitment to communicating data to non-technical audiences.
