Top SchoolJames Vaughan is a Senior Software Architect with 11 years of focused experience building high-performance transportation modelling systems at the University of Toronto. He leads development of the eXtensible Travel Modelling Framework (XTMF) and the GTA agent-based GTAModel line, combining C#, C++, .NET and Python to deliver parallelized, vectorized solutions that dramatically reduce runtimes. Comfortable spanning research and production, he directs a team, integrates commercial and open-source tools (including EMME), and keeps UTTRI on the cutting edge of transport analysis software. His background in HPC, database engineering and algorithmic model estimation (PSO, GA, GD) enables him to marry numerical methods with practical deployment on clusters. Based in Old Toronto, he brings academic rigor from a U of T software engineering degree to long-running, impactful public-policy modelling projects. An under-the-radar strength is his knack for extensible plug-in frameworks that let multiple cities and research teams reuse and customize complex simulations.
