Summary
👤
SeniorJames Wills is a San Francisco–based software engineer with 13 years of professional experience and nearly a decade building full‑stack web products. He has driven impactful product and technical work at Notion and Airbnb—most notably leading anti-discrimination efforts that materially reduced bias (including the highest‑impact photo‑hiding feature) and scaling Instant Book adoption from under 30% to over 70%. Comfortable across React, TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, Android/Kotlin and backend services, he has led migrations from legacy stacks to modern React/TS architectures for public-facing civic platforms. His background includes security research and automation tooling, a knack for translating complex social problems into technical solutions, and experience owning APIs and experimentation infrastructure. Based in the Bay Area and rooted in hands-on engineering, he combines product sensibility with measurable outcomes that improve both fairness and growth.
