Top SchoolJamie Whetsell is a Senior DevOps Engineer and cloud architect with over two decades in IT and more than a decade focused on cloud-native infrastructure, currently driving DevOps practice at Oddball after architecting EKS-centric automation at By Light. He specializes in Amazon EKS, containerization (including migrations from Docker to Podman), Ansible automation platforms, and CI/CD modernization using GitHub Actions to replace legacy Jenkins pipelines. Jamie pairs hands-on engineering—AMI automation for VA-hardened images, AWX on EKS, and Rancher-managed clusters—with a pragmatic focus on developer enablement and operational sustainability. His background spans consulting at Red Hat and long-term systems engineering roles, giving him both enterprise-scale architecture experience and deep operational chops. Based in North Charleston, he’s known for prototyping practical automation that reduces toil while aligning security and compliance needs with scalable cloud strategies.
