Senior🎓
Top SchoolJan Aerts is a senior sustainability consultant based in Leuven with 18 years of experience translating climate ambitions into scoped projects, LCAs and actionable CO2 reduction plans. He combines deep technical skills in life cycle assessment, building energy performance and mobility planning with hands-on project facilitation for municipalities, large organisations and multi-partner EU projects. At Transition Stories and previously Leuven 2030 he monitored GHG KPIs and guided the L.E.U.V.E.N. ELENA programme, helping partners invest over €50M in energy measures. Jan’s background as an engineer and former aviation professional underpins a methodical, data-driven approach to trend analysis and scenario forecasting, while his teaching and workshop practice makes complex methods accessible. He is particularly strong at connecting scope‑3 thinking and local climate plans to pragmatic action, and openly flags limits in chemistry and climate adaptation where deeper expertise is needed.
