Top SchoolJānis Kiršteins is an engineering manager with 13 years of experience in security-focused software and product leadership, currently leading teams at Datadog from Marseille. He co-founded and ran Notakey, a startup that implemented cryptographic digital-signature-based access controls and tamper-proof audit logs, and remains on its board, bringing founder-level product and operational experience to engineering management. His early career maintained large PKI and e-signature systems across multiple languages and platforms, giving him deep practical expertise in applied cryptography, secure APIs, and legacy-modern integrations. At Sqreen and Datadog he transitioned from hands-on engineering to coaching and scaling teams that build observability and application security tooling. Colleagues know him for blending rigorous security engineering with pragmatic delivery — and for shipping auditable, policy-driven access controls that solve real enterprise problems.
