Summary
👤
SeniorJared Smith is a Director of Information Security and seasoned software engineer with 12 years building resilient, production-grade systems across Ruby, Elixir, and Go. He currently leads security and compliance at Lavender, where he ran SOC 2 Type I/II audits, served as interim CISO/Data Protection Officer, and architected secure multi‑cloud platforms spanning GCP, AWS, and Azure. Jared combines hands‑on backend engineering—migration work, high‑throughput ingestion pipelines, and identity system redesigns—with pragmatic security controls like MDM, automated identity provisioning, and penetration testing lifecycles. He has a track record of improving reliability and observability in Kubernetes environments and moving legacy services to more maintainable stacks. Comfortable in both startup and regulated fintech contexts, he pairs developer instincts with governance and vendor risk management to operationalize security. Based in Bakersfield, CA, he quietly bridges product, infra, and compliance to keep AI and data systems both fast and auditable.
