Summary
👤
SeniorJason Penney is a Principal Software Engineer with 17 years of experience, currently driving engineering work at Dell EMC while maintaining a long-running independent practice building WordPress plugins and web consulting projects. He is polyglot by design—comfortable across C/C++, Python, JavaScript, C#, Java and several Lisps—able to learn new languages quickly due to a background in programming language design. Jason combines systems-level expertise (C/C++, Linux, LAMP stacks) with pragmatic web development skills (HTML/CSS, WordPress, Git), and has released widely used open-source WordPress plugins with strong user ratings and over 150k downloads. He is known for thinking in code and for shipping clean, maintainable solutions that bridge desktop and web application domains. Based in Nashua, NH, he balances enterprise-scale engineering at Dell EMC with hands-on freelance projects and tooling contributions that improve cross-browser and script-loading performance. An under-the-radar strength is his history of picking up niche languages and tooling—Lisp, Scheme, Pascal, and specialized open-source versioning systems—bringing uncommon versatility to teams.
