Top SchoolJavier Lopez is an engineering manager based in Barcelona with over 20 years of technical experience and a decade of formal engineering leadership, currently leading AI Auth engineering at Okta’s Auth0 unit. He has a strong track record building and scaling remote teams across Europe and the US, hiring and mentoring engineers, and formalizing onboarding, RFC-style specs, and software lifecycle processes. Technically comfortable across backend, cloud and data stacks (Node, TypeScript, Rust, Python, AWS serverless, ETL and analytics), he has driven migrations of high-traffic systems and rebuilt platform architectures to cut delivery times dramatically. Javier blends deep scientific training—a PhD in Astrophysics and early research roles at CERN and MAGIC—with pragmatic product delivery, which helped him shift teams from waterfall to agile and hand off reporting to dedicated data owners. Known for turning complex integrations into reliable services, he also coaches senior engineers into management and focuses on measurable improvements in interoperability and developer productivity.
