Top SchoolJay Batson is a veteran founder and board advisor with three decades of experience building and scaling technology companies, best known as the founding CEO of Acquia where he took the business from zero to a high-growth exit. He has founded four companies, been CEO twice, and now invests in and mentors startups—currently an angel in 19 companies and active as a venture partner and advisor across Techstars, Underscore VC, and multiple portfolio firms. Jay specializes in early-stage product-market fit, team building, B2B SaaS go-to-market, and capital fundraising, with a practical knack for knowing when to hand off operational control to accelerate growth. His background spans hands-on product management and engineering leadership through executive and board roles, giving him both tactical and strategic perspective. Notably, he repeatedly engages with founders during accelerator programs and stays deeply involved in operational execution rather than offering only high-level counsel. Based in Boston, he combines founder grit with investor discipline and a willingness to share lessons from both notable successes and failures.
