Jay Deluca is a software engineer and SRE-focused maintainer in the OpenTelemetry ecosystem, currently serving as Java Contrib Maintainer and approver for multiple OpenTelemetry projects while also working on instrumentation and SDKs at Grafana Labs. With about four years of concentrated experience in SRE and a longer track record across reliability, DevOps, and platform roles, he has led telemetry deployments for hundreds of thousands of devices and established observability baselines that closed monitoring gaps enterprise-wide. He combines hands-on coding in Java/Kotlin with systems thinking—building ingestion pipelines, tuning infrastructure at scale, and creating libraries of monitors and training programs to raise organizational signal literacy. An active project approver and triager, he brings deep expertise in telemetry, instrumentation, and production performance analysis that few engineers pair with such a persistent focus on pedagogy and tooling. Based in Pawtucket, RI, he approaches SRE like an experimenter—learning systems’ “tricks” through immersive telemetry and iterative improvement.
The open and composable observability and data visualization platform. Visualize metrics, logs, and traces from multiple sources like Prometheus, Loki, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, Postgres and many more.
