Senior🎓
Top SchoolJean‑François Gagné is a MySQL expert and systems engineer with over two decades of experience and a decade focused specifically on MySQL and MariaDB at scale. He has driven database resilience and scalability across high-growth platforms at Booking.com, MessageBird, HubSpot and Aiven, and now contributes to MySQL work at Proton and as an independent consultant. His strengths span replication, InnoDB internals, Linux infrastructure, TCP/IP and storage, with practical achievements like designing binlog-server based replication strategies and speeding MySQL startup for fleets with millions of tables. An active open source advocate and speaker, he founded the Planet for the MySQL Community aggregator and was named a MySQL Rockstar for his community contributions. Unusually for a production engineer, he combines deep academic grounding in parallel computing with hands‑on C/Java origins and a habit of publishing long-form troubleshooting posts that continue to be reused years later. Based in Montreal, he prefers clear, contextual connection requests and shares insights via blogging and conference talks.
