Top SchoolJeff Barr is a veteran technology evangelist and engineering leader whose career spans from early microcomputer programming in 1976 to his current role as Vice President & Chief Evangelist at Amazon Web Services. He has a rare combination of deep engineering experience—ranging from systems programming and product architecture at Microsoft to founding and consulting through Vertex Development—and a prolific public-facing practice, authoring nearly 3,000 AWS blog posts and hosting regular video briefings. Known for distilling complex technical capabilities into clear, customer-focused narratives, he drives developer adoption through talks, demos, and social media while maintaining relentless customer obsession. He holds a BS in Computer Science and a Master’s in Communication and Digital Media, reflecting his blend of technical depth and storytelling craft. An interesting, less-obvious strength is his long history of hands-on product work across platforms and hardware dating back to the 1970s, which informs his practical, platform-aware evangelism today.
