Top SchoolJeff Hodd is a versatile craftsman and technologist with over a decade of experience who now runs a sole-proprietor luthiery, handbuilding steel-string acoustic guitars from a wide range of timbers and accepting custom orders. His background includes deep systems and software engineering roles—from C/C++, Java, and COBOL development to Linux administration and open-source project stewardship (Bluestar Linux)—reflecting a rare blend of precision woodworking and low-level software expertise. Jeff’s career spans embedded and distributed systems, middleware, and application development for finance, telecom, and retail, bringing rigorous engineering discipline to instrument design and construction. Based in Virginia, he pairs academic training in computer science and humanities with practical shop skills, suggesting an approach to guitar-making that is both technically exacting and artistically informed.
