Top SchoolJeff Jakub is a Director of Engineering based in Austin with a decade of experience building and scaling engineering organizations from the ground up. He has repeatedly moved into leadership roles at growth-stage companies—Engine, Bestow, Square Root—and led teams through product and platform transitions across fintech, retail, and insurance domains. Jeff blends hands-on engineering roots (Java, REST APIs, integrations) with strategic management of cross-functional teams and delivery at scale. He is comfortable in both startup and enterprise contexts, having managed engineering workstreams at H-E-B and NetSpend after earlier analytics roles in healthcare. Known for creating structures where none existed before, he focuses on hiring, processes, and technical roadmaps that turn small teams into reliable delivery engines. Outside of obvious leadership milestones, his career shows a consistent thread of translating domain-specific complexity into pragmatic, production-ready systems.
