Top SchoolJeff Welch is a seasoned software engineering manager in Austin with 15 years of experience building and operating large-scale, production systems across web, desktop, and automation domains. He progressed from hands-on engineering and CTO roles to leading teams at Onnit, where he transformed ad-hoc AWS setups into automated CI/CD containerized platforms and drove site-wide performance and scalability improvements. A pragmatic leader and mentor, he combines incident response and security postmortems with long-term architectural improvements that enabled record traffic and sales. Jeff is an active open-source contributor to prominent PHP testing and tooling projects (notably PHPUnit and related libraries), demonstrating deep expertise in test automation, mocking, and code-coverage tooling. He pairs strong software design and refactoring skills with practical delivery—having built cross-platform products and a company-wide framework that lowered development costs and scaled hosting to hundreds of thousands of sites. Comfortable at the intersection of engineering, operations, and product, he brings an operator’s mindset to shipping reliable, maintainable systems.
