Top SchoolJeffry Ely is a Senior Software Engineer with 11 years of multidisciplinary engineering experience blending software development, data science, and remote sensing to solve operational problems. He has moved between industry and research roles—from leading geoinformatics efforts at NASA programs and guiding agricultural decision-support products as Chief Data Scientist to building scalable systems at Amazon and now Umbra. Jeffry specializes in turning complex earth-observation and sensor data into production-ready ML and analytics solutions, and he has a proven track record of translating domain knowledge (agronomy, acoustics, nuclear engineering) into practical software and operational workflows. Based in Fredericksburg, VA, he pairs an aerospace/mechanical engineering background (M.S. and B.S.) with hands-on coding and product leadership, and is motivated by meaningful problems that require learning new tools and techniques. An uncommon strength is his experience operationalizing scientific software for nontechnical users across international deployments, demonstrating both technical depth and strong communication.
