Jennie Knies is an experienced academic librarian and digital projects leader with over two decades in libraries and 14 years in senior roles shaping services across Penn State’s 23-campus system. As Associate Dean for Commonwealth Campus Libraries she directs strategy and support for a geographically dispersed population that serves nearly half of Penn State undergraduates, combining operational leadership with outreach and change management. Her background spans digital program and collections management, archival curation, special collections, and hands-on historical research, informed by an MLS in Archival Management and a BA in Russian Area Studies. Jennie has led cross-campus reorganizations, launched digital initiatives at the University of Maryland, and brings a rare blend of archival theory and practical digital preservation experience. Active in professional service, she has chaired regional archives organizations and serves on the board of a community center, reflecting a commitment to both scholarly access and local engagement.
