Top SchoolJeremy Cothran is a Senior Software Developer with over a decade of experience building web services and applications for ocean observing systems and research data workflows. He combines strong systems skills (Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL/SQLite) and geospatial tooling (Google Maps/KML, MapServer, OpenLayers) with practical AI/ML work, applying TensorFlow to person-counting from video feeds and pushing summaries into databases and websites. His background in Electrical and Computer Engineering underpins a pragmatic, data-centric approach to converting raw observational data into common, consumable formats. Jeremy is actively exploring multivariate time-series analysis and algorithm comparisons to improve observational data processing. Based in South Carolina at the University of South Carolina, he brings institutional experience and an operator’s perspective on productionizing models and services. He often bridges legacy research systems and modern ML workflows, making complex environmental data accessible and actionable.
