Top SchoolJesús Pérez-ortega is a Principal Investigator at UNAM with nine years of experience developing advanced neuronal recording techniques and analysis software to probe circuit dynamics across visual cortex, retina, preBötC and striatum. He blends engineering and neuroscience—holding a mechatronics degree and a PhD in Neuroscience—to build acquisition tools like Im-Patch© and Xsembles2P, the latter used to identify ON/OFF neuronal ensembles and highlighted in a Nature Communications paper. His work spans two-photon microscopy and multi-electrode arrays, delivering end-to-end solutions from hardware interfacing to ensemble-detection algorithms. An experienced educator, he teaches data-driven neuroscience and programming, mentoring the next generation of neuroengineers. He also brings international research experience from Columbia and CINVESTAV, combining rigorous experimental design with open software practices.
