Summary
👤
SeniorJhon Ambuila is a GIS software developer and analyst with nine years of experience building Python-driven geospatial tools, ETLs, dashboards and workflows for government and private sectors. Currently based in Burnaby, Canada, he blends cadastral and geodesy training with a Master's in information sciences to deliver production GIS services for mining, geothermal and land administration projects. He has led teams and managed software delivery as a Python team lead and software development manager, while also maintaining hands-on work in QGIS plugins, ArcPy, Geocortex and web mapping stacks. An active community contributor, he supports QGIS Colombia and regularly helps peers on GIS Stack Exchange, reflecting his commitment to open knowledge and free-software projects. Outside of work he experiments with data-science projects—web scraping aviation and job sites and building a real-estate ML platform on AWS—demonstrating a practical interest in end-to-end data products. This mix of field-domain expertise, production GIS engineering and community-driven open-source practice makes him effective at turning complex spatial standards like LADM-COL into usable tools.
