Jiahao Zhang is a first-year PhD student in Computer Science at UCLA and a Student Research Assistant in the VAST lab, focusing on software-hardware co-design, domain-specific ML acceleration, and High-Level Synthesis under Prof. Jason Cong. With a strong foundation from Tsinghua (BE in Microelectronics, 3.88/4.00) and research stints at Cornell and Tsinghua, he has hands-on experience designing wafer-scale and CGRA architectures as well as IC security using novel ferroelectric devices. He also applied Transformers and optimization techniques to quantitative research in industry, demonstrating an ability to translate academic advances into practical performance gains. Driven to bridge emerging applications and hardware realities, he actively learns new frameworks, languages, and algorithms to push customized acceleration solutions toward real-world impact.
