Jianing Wei is an Engineering Director at Google with 15+ years of deep expertise in computer vision, on-device ML, computational photography, and mobile imaging, leading applied ML efforts in Core ML and Google Research. He has a track record of turning research into shipped products—most notably driving gyro-based video stabilization and EIS for Nexus and Pixel phones—and has progressed from research roles to senior leadership within Google. His work blends academic rigor (Ph.D. in computational imaging from Purdue) with product-focused engineering, spanning camera autofocus, scene understanding, and AR/AI systems. Jianing mentors teams that deliver state-of-the-art on-device AI across Google products while maintaining a strong interest in product development and creative research. Outside of work he channels his visual sensibility into photography and keeps sharp reflexes playing pingpong—an uncommon combination that reflects both aesthetic and kinetic intuition.

Objectron is a dataset of short, object-centric video clips. In addition, the videos also contain AR session metadata including camera poses, sparse point-clouds and planes. In each video, the camera moves around and above the object and captures it from different views. Each object is annotated with a 3D bounding box. The 3D bounding box describes the object’s position, orientation, and dimensions. The dataset contains about 15K annotated video clips and 4M annotated images in the following categories: bikes, books, bottles, cameras, cereal boxes, chairs, cups, laptops, and shoes
