Top SchoolJillian Deines is an integrative earth scientist with 11 years of experience translating hydrology, ecology, and socioeconomics into reproducible models of surface and groundwater in agricultural systems. Currently at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory after a postdoc at Stanford’s Center on Food Security and the Environment, she blends geospatial expertise with rigorous data-driven workflows to inform water-resource decision making. Her PhD work at Michigan State synthesized hydrology and biology to project future water availability for farming landscapes, and earlier roles ranged from paleoecological project management to field-based invasive species research. Based in Palo Alto, she pairs field-hardened ecological insight with computational reproducibility—often bridging historical ecological data and modern modeling—to tackle practical water challenges.
