Top SchoolJim Segal is an engineering manager in Chicago with 11 years of hands-on experience building and leading full-stack teams that deliver scalable web applications using Elixir, React, GraphQL and TypeScript. He has a strong track record of shipping greenfield projects—forecasting inventory and streamlining quoting systems—that created new product opportunities and reduced manual work. Jim blends architecture and delivery leadership with mentorship, having led teams of up to five engineers and improved hiring and interview processes. He’s passionate about real-time systems and open source, and pairs that curiosity with practical integrations of predictive models and LLMs into production workflows. Outside work he builds websites and experiments with hobbyist 3D creation, reflecting a maker mindset that informs pragmatic, user-focused engineering.
