Top SchoolJim Steinberger is a Senior Staff Engineer in New York with 12 years of experience building robust web applications and backend systems, currently leading engineering efforts at DonorsChoose.org. He brings deep Java expertise (1.4–1.6), Spring/Hibernate, and a polyglot toolkit that spans C/C++, PHP, JavaScript frameworks, message queues, and both MySQL and PostgreSQL. His background blends enterprise-grade development and research—an M.S.E. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan and earlier leadership as Lead Developer at Dynamic Edge. Jim also gives back through hands-on teaching, having co-taught AP Computer Science via TEALS and developed curricula for under-resourced classrooms. Pragmatic and detail-oriented, he’s comfortable maintaining legacy systems while incrementally modernizing stacks and tooling to improve reliability and developer velocity.
