Top SchoolJimmy Malhan is a founder and investor with eight years of hands-on experience building secure, compliant production systems across healthcare, fintech, and consumer platforms. He founded Pretense to stop proprietary code from leaking to AI tools, shipping a local proxy that protects data without changing developer workflows and scaling to 500+ developers in open beta. Previously he led engineering through a $63B acquisition at Allergan Aesthetics, maintaining 99.9% uptime and first-pass SOC2 Type II compliance under HIPAA and pharma constraints. His background spans CTO and senior engineering roles where he moved monoliths to microservices on AWS and operationalized security and compliance for mission-critical workflows. Based in Los Angeles with an MBA in IT Management, he blends operator instincts with product-led security and a knack for shipping pragmatic, low-friction tooling that slips seamlessly into developer toolchains. An often-overlooked strength: he builds security that preserves developer speed rather than slowing it down.
