Top SchoolJoan Gamell is a seasoned full-stack software engineer with 12 years of experience, currently working as a Member of Technical Staff in California after serving as Principal Front-End Engineer at Moov. He specializes in front-end architecture, developer experience and monorepo strategies, and has a track record of modernizing codebases with strict typing, automated testing and reusable component libraries. Joan thrives at the intersection of hands-on coding and leadership—he’s led and scaled front-end teams at Slack and Expedia, then deliberately returned to individual contribution to stay close to craft. He has driven company-wide technical improvements from test frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to OpenAPI/TypeSpec modernization and AI-generated SDKs. Comfortable across JS, Java and backend systems, he pairs pragmatic product thinking with continuous-improvement practices. An early inventor of a two-factor graphic authentication system, he brings curiosity and a knack for building durable developer tooling as well as user-facing experiences.
