Summary
🎓
Top SchoolJoão Alves is a senior full-stack software engineer from Minas Gerais, Brazil, with six years of professional experience and a five-year focus on backend systems. He brings deep expertise in Ruby on Rails, Next.js and cloud migrations, having modernized first-party apps and moved storage from AWS S3 to Google Cloud Storage while restoring critical resiliency and SLOs for high-traffic periods. At Shopify he re-architected an AI-powered ad generation pipeline using Temporal to cut processing times from 20 minutes to under five, and previously delivered cross-industry consultancy work including crypto broker backends and Elasticsearch-driven search optimizations. João mentors junior engineers, presents internally, and combines pragmatic engineering with orchestration and observability to improve system reliability. Comfortable across frontend and backend stacks, he also has hands-on experience with integrations like AS2 and legacy system migrations that make operational workflows smoother for end users. Driven by continuous learning, he seeks projects that pair scalable architecture with tangible product impact.
