Top SchoolJoão Brandão is a Senior Backend Engineer with a decade of experience designing and shipping scalable, service-oriented systems across SaaS and enterprise domains. He has recently been building the new Mercedes‑Benz checkout and previously drove foundational backend architecture changes—like migrating services to asynchronous RabbitMQ communication—while working with Node.js, TypeScript, and Kotlin. Comfortable in cloud-native environments, João pairs hands-on coding with mentoring, interviewing, and co-leading graduate programs to raise team capability. He’s proactive about production resilience and cost management, and often champions process standardization and knowledge sharing across teams. Based in Braga, Portugal, he blends an electrical engineering master’s background with practical full-stack roots from early embedded and web projects, giving him a systems-level view that informs pragmatic architectural choices.
