Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolJoão Paiva is a systems engineer with 13 years of experience building and operating complex distributed systems, currently at Cloudflare after a multi-year technical leadership track at Talkdesk. He combines a strong academic foundation (BSc, MSc, PhD from Instituto Superior Técnico) with hands-on startup and production experience, turning research-grade ideas into reliable, scalable services. João thrives in collaborative environments, enjoys simplifying intricate problems into clear, actionable solutions, and values creative non-technical approaches to technical challenges. His time transitioning from academia to high-growth product teams sharpened his adaptability, persistence, and comfort with rapid change. Based in Lisbon, he brings both research rigor and pragmatic engineering to infrastructure and systems design. A curiosity-driven engineer, he’s as interested in the social and process aspects of systems as in their code and architecture.
