Senior Software Engineer at DRW
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Summary
🤩
RockstarJoel Gallant is a senior software engineer based in Calgary with 13 years of experience building high-availability web platforms, frontend architectures, and real-time APIs. He has driven critical systems at Cruise—rebuilding matchmaking for Remote Advisors, migrating to Spanner, and architecting a modular frontend for faster iteration and A/B testing—and now contributes at DRW. Comfortable across the stack, Joel combines production-grade backend work in Go and gRPC with complex React/WebGL frontends and video pipelines, and has shipped embedded computer vision and real-time UAV tracking earlier in his career. He’s a pragmatic polyglot and FOSS enthusiast who ramps up quickly, mentors teams, and focuses on high-leverage problems that improve operational workflows. Notably, he blends deep technical execution with cross-functional collaboration, regularly partnering with UX, ops, and leadership to deliver high-impact projects.
