Summary
👤
SeniorJoel Semar is a Senior Software Engineer based in Austin with 15 years building backend and distributed systems across startups and enterprise teams. He has designed and run cloud-native microservices and event-driven platforms on AWS—delivering scalable assessment and compliance pipelines at Living Security and algorithmic coaching services at Under Armour Connected Fitness. Comfortable from Python/Django to Java/Spring and orchestration with Docker/Kubernetes, he often owns end-to-end systems from APIs to data migration and search. A pragmatic engineer and independent consultant since 2016, he blends product-focused execution with an appetite for tooling and data-driven features, having previously led recommendation and mobile-focused projects. Notably, Joel pairs deep technical breadth with a steady, people-oriented approach—“work hard at something you love. Be kind.”
