Top SchoolJoel Stimson is a senior full-stack software engineer in Seattle with ~15 years building high-velocity, early-stage and scale-up systems across backend, infrastructure and customer-facing integrations. He’s delivered large-scale systems—live-migrating 14 million customers and a billion records with zero downtime, designing high-throughput Kafka consumers and scaling APIs to tens of billions of requests per month—while driving SOC-2 and GDPR compliance to unlock enterprise revenue. Equally comfortable in TypeScript, Ruby, Go and Scala, Joel focuses on operational reliability, performance tuning and pragmatic architecture choices (AWS, Kubernetes, Cassandra, Postgres, Elasticsearch). He excels at translating complex technical tradeoffs into clear business and customer outcomes, often acting as the primary technical contact for sales and security reviews. Outside core engineering he invests in the local startup ecosystem as a Hustle Fund Angel Squad member and organizer, combining technical depth with investor-minded product intuition.
