Top SchoolJoey Wong is an undergraduate researcher and software engineer with eight years of practical experience building data-driven systems and experimenting with LLM-based applications. Currently at UC Berkeley, Joey conducts independent research into large language model systems while grounding work in a dual BA in Computer Science and Economics. Past roles include applied data analysis for the City of Los Angeles and research assistance at CU Denver, demonstrating an ability to move between civic, academic, and engineering contexts. Joey’s portfolio site (jwxng.com) reflects a hands-on, exploratory approach to projects and tooling beyond coursework. Based in Tianjin with ties to the United States, he brings a global perspective and a knack for translating research prototypes into real-world analyses. Colleagues note a pragmatic curiosity—equally comfortable diving into code as framing experimental questions for LLM systems.
