John Agens is a backend-focused software engineer with roughly 9 years of professional experience and about 5 years concentrated on building web services and APIs. Currently at REI Systems, he develops Java Spring Boot backends and Angular front-ends, having progressed internally from Associate to Software Engineer after earlier work on federal projects like the GSA Integrated Awards Environment. Trained at Flatiron School and with a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Social Science from Florida State University, he blends engineering rigor with an understanding of economics and public administration. Comfortable across the full stack, he describes himself as a full-stack web developer while specializing in scalable backend systems. His background in records management lends an attention to data integrity and compliance that informs how he designs systems. Based in Jersey City, he brings steady incremental ownership and proven success transitioning from contractor roles to permanent engineering positions.

This is my Restaurant Simulator. It is a demo project I built with React and the ActionCable Provider library on top of a Rails API backend where you can place and "cook" orders, and see the activity of other users in real time. Follow the link to the live site or check out the video in the README to see it in action.
