Top SchoolJohn Bedell is a Senior Software Engineer based in Lexington, Kentucky with a long track record of designing and delivering enterprise-grade Java systems across industries from logistics and defense to fintech. Over two decades he has led ground-up rewrites, UI modernizations, and architecture for tracking and inventory platforms—bringing legacy systems to web and HTML5 while integrating databases like Oracle, PostgreSQL and Cassandra. Currently at New Relic after recent senior roles at Equifax and Appriss, he combines hands-on backend expertise (Java, JPA, Spring) with front-end modernizations (Angular/HTML5) and embedded/OTA device communications. Known for translating complex domain requirements—military ammo tracking and high-value cargo logistics—into pragmatic, maintainable solutions, he also mentors teams and manages release/version workflows. A Transylvania University computer science graduate, he pairs deep legacy-system knowledge with a knack for incremental modernization rather than risky big-bang rewrites.
