Senior🎓
Top SchoolJohn Lyon-smith is a seasoned software development manager with over two decades of experience delivering high-impact engineering and product systems across startups and large enterprises. Currently leading AWS Hardware Engineering Services, he architects hardware-accelerated, multi-GPU ultra-servers for large-scale AI workloads and previously managed Fire TV and AppSync teams at Amazon. He has a proven track record of turning infrastructure challenges into cost savings and reliability—saving $1.2M annually at Brown Paper Tickets—and building teams that ship frequent, low-bug releases. As a founder and CTO he blends product-driven engineering with hands-on systems design, from AR training and mobile apps to custom electronics for immersive puzzle rooms. Technically grounded in performance profiling and debugging from his Microsoft and tooling background, he pairs that depth with disciplined project management and customer-focused delivery. Based in Rhode Island, he combines pragmatic leadership with a curiosity for bleeding-edge data center and interactive experiences.
