John Mcnamee
Principal Software Engineer at HYPR | The Identity Assurance Company
Houston, Texas, United States
Summary
👤
SeniorJohn Mcnamee is a Principal Software Engineer with over 25 years of systems and firmware experience, currently driving passwordless identity work at HYPR from Houston. A pragmatic "working architect," he blends specification and slide-deck clarity with hands-on implementation—shipping kernel drivers, firmware update tools, and system management features across Windows, Linux, and VMware. His background at HPE includes leading thermal management, BMC-centric management, and online firmware update efforts that moved server management from host-centric to BMC-first architectures. Early career work on Norton Utilities, multi-user OSes, and low-level Intel/80386 assembly gives him deep platform and hardware-software integration expertise few architects retain. Colleagues rely on him to turn complex cross-team designs into reliable, auditable products while still writing the key code.
