Top SchoolJohn Smoker is a Principal Infrastructure Architect based in Portland, Oregon, with over 20 years of experience designing secure, scalable systems and a decade focused on cloud-native infrastructure and automation. He has led enterprise-grade architectures across financial services, hospitality, and security startups, driving major initiatives like unifying 80+ AWS VPCs, implementing centralized egress networks that cut $90K/year in spend, and architecting multicloud zero-trust demos that powered 10,000+ automated deployments. Skilled in Terraform, Golang, Ansible, and multi-cloud networking (AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI), he blends hands-on engineering with solution design and cross-team leadership to make complex environments reproducible and auditable. Colleagues rely on him to translate business requirements into resilient, IaC-driven platforms and to accelerate sales and training through reusable automation. A practical tinkerer at heart, he repeatedly turns rapid-demo and event constraints into repeatable production patterns that scale.
