Summary

Senior🎓
Top SchoolJohnny Dong is a Director-level software engineer based in Sydney with over 20 years of hands-on experience building enterprise-grade systems across full-stack JavaScript, .NET, Java, and cloud platforms. He combines leadership roles and individual contributor work—running his own Spudmash Media while delivering technical lead and principal engineer outcomes for organisations like Optus, Zip, Seven West Media and NSW government. His strength is pragmatic polyglot engineering: from REST/GraphQL APIs, identity and auth systems, and large RDBMS/NoSQL designs to Rust CLI/WASM experiments, Unity3D/Blender tooling and data scripting in Python. Johnny has repeatedly shipped secure, test-automated services in regulated environments, with notable experience integrating IdentityServer, AWS services and ELK observability. He’s equally comfortable in solution architecture and deep code delivery, mentoring teams to meet deadlines on time and budget. A creative technologist at heart, he pairs production-grade engineering with design and audio interests reflected in his GitHub tagline: Code | Design | Audio.
